B+A were commissioned by the Scottish Borders Health and Social Care Partnership to work in collaboration with NHS Borders to develop a whole system modelling tool that supports long-term planning across health and social care by projecting demand and capacity under a range of future scenarios.

Modelling scope encompassed social care assessments, care at home services and day services through to community, intermediate and acute hospital beds, as well as implications for care home bed and extra-care housing requirements.

Regular meetings with Programme Board to advise on progress, clarify direction, validate assumptions and make pertinent decisions.

What our key stakeholders had to say...

"Working with B+A has been really valuable for us. Their approach to capacity modelling brought together colleagues from across the Health and Social Care Partnership to look at and optimise our system as a whole – not just in respective silos. From what I understand, we were the first to take this kind of whole-system approach to modelling, which hasn’t been done before. It’s helped us build a shared understanding of where we are, where we can best get to, and what we need to do to get there. The forecasting tool they’ve have developed for us is flexible and practical, so that we can keep refining our plans as things evolve."
