A capacity planning model was developed, and through extensive stakeholder engagement we assessed different scenarios and quantified future capacity requirements.  The scope of the exercise included: Care Homes, Intermediate Care, Community Hospital, and Aging & health within the acute hospital setting.

Capacity planning across settings and services

The outputs have given NHS Forth Valley and the Integrated Joint Boards (IJBs) a better understanding of the capacity requirements in a number of care settings based on a range of scenarios reflecting new ways of working in the delivery of health and social care services.  The outputs will inform the strategic planning approach undertaken by the IJBs.

Whole system service Vision

The output of the initial phase of work was a clearly defined whole system service vision

Projections and scenarios

Detailed capacity planning projections for a range of scenarios, across settings and in a variety of "currencies"

Reconfiguring services and estate

Opportunities to reconfigure services and estate across health and social care for the population profile of the region
