Essential streams of work

Caring for Ayrshire is a transformative change programme that focusses on the best way to meet the health and care needs of citizens through delivering a range of accessible, high quality, safe, effective and sustainable health and care services that are fit for the future.  Some of the main areas of focus are outlined below.

Whole system service Vision

The output of the initial phase of work was a clearly defined whole system service vision, developed through extensive and close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders including executive directors, clinical, staff, operational leads from across the NHS and Health and Social Care Partnershiips.

Clearly defined pathways

A set of pathways were developed, illustrating how care could be delivered across service layers and settings to increasingly localise care delivery and align risk and complexity of care to the relevant setting.

Programme Initial Agreement (PIA)

A compelling case for change and investment including
Investment objectives and anticipated benefits, strategic vision and service solution framework, including the role of digital health, an approach to developing implementation options and an organisational readiness assessment.

Project outcomes and next steps

The ‘Caring for Ayrshire’ programme was established by NHS Ayrshire & Arran and the three Integration Joint Boards (IJBs) of Ayrshire’s Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs). The transformative change programme reflects a ‘whole system' approach which will inform a holistic infrastructure strategy that optimises service delivery over the next twenty to thirty years.

B+A are supporting the Board in the development of the PIA which sets out an overarching proposition for future and on-going investment to deliver the strategic aims and ambitions of the Caring for Ayrshire programme, and provides a framework against which an initial health, care and wellbeing model can be established.
